Finally had a chance to field-test my Eberlestock gun scabbard. Went on a day-hike/bunny chase in the frozen wilderness. No luck on the furries, but had plenty of grouse surprise the crap out of me 
- good fun all in all.
It is a shotgun scabbard but fits my Ruger 10/22 nicely, so any short carbine would fit fine as well.
Here it is attached to my Maxi Vulture - molle strapped with compression straps also used for added security:

Summary - nice add-on to any molle pack.
Nothing but frozen sea here for "Spring" in Ontario.
