Gun value?

No, ********, it's not a stainless. The sights aren't even Browning, they're aftermarket Millet's, and the gun HAS been refinished. You can see in the picture that the trigger pivot pin hole has had the **** buffed out of it. That would have NEVER happened on a Browning finished gun.

I didn't have a dog in this fight, but ********* like you **** me off, shooting your mouths off, without the SLIGHTEST idea what you're talking about.

Perhaps. Don't care.

I was asked my opinion last night, looked at a picture, and gave my opinion. Don't own a gun shop, but have certifications from SIG, Glock, S&W, and Browning, and worked in a Browning warranty shop. I think I know what I'm talking about.

I do.

Interestingly enough, I have had two fairly knowledgeable and one VERY knowledgeable BHP folks look at it today. All said the gun was NOT refinished, but was hard chrome, which browning calls "silver chrome". The rear sight is indeed Millet, but is not an aftermarket sight; rather it was the second type adjustable sight used by FN.

I'm not really sure why there seems to be some information that conflicts with other information, except that in all likelihood, that is just the way it goes when you are talking about a gun that was made in 1981. And of course, these have been around a lot longer than that, so there are a lot of variations out there. Regardless, I have personally shot this gun and it does shoot like a dream. But as I alluded in my initial post, if I get rid of her, it will be for personal reasons having nothing to do with the gun itself.

And while I do appreciate everyone's input, please keep it cordial. We are amongst friends even if we disagree.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

Actually, the third. The first Type A, or BLR, was available on the Sport from 1971-1981. The Type B was available 1982-83. The Millet sight was from 1984 on.

Personally, I would hang on to it, and pass it to my kids.

I almost bought the same gun about ten years ago. It had a custom fitted Bar-Sto? barrel. It was beautiful and felt great in hand. I've shot a couple of Hi-Powers an they are nice guns. Think it was selling for 550 then. If you are a gun guy ... keep it IMO.

I'm just laughing at how red your face probably was while typing that.

Big deal, you're a gunsmith who offered your opinion. My opinion is that 400 dollars is still what a lowballing gunshop owner would try and offer you. I say this, because that's what gunshop owners do. A gunstore was closing and I made the mistake of buying pretty much 3/4 of their inventory without thinking. I later regretted having a stupid amount of multiples of some firearms I didn't even like. I remember trying to get rid of some of the oddball calibers, one of them was a glock 32 in .357 sig. I have no use for that caliber so I figured I'd try and unload it at my gunshop when I went in to buy a new rifle. They offered me 240 dollars for a BRAND NEW unfired glock still in the box. That's the way it works. They have to make a buck which is why I suggested gunbroker.
