I thought I`d post some pics of some guns and knives.

First up is a Springfield XD9 Tactical and Scout Jr.

Next is a custom Glock 17 and my EDC. The Glock has it`s frame shortened to Model 19 specs, and Heinie Straight Eight sights. The work was done by me.

Next is S&W 629 3" .44 Magnum with a 7" Camp Knife. This is my "House Gun", shown with the Winchester .44 Special Silvertips I keep it loaded with.

Last is my favorite, Kimber first year production .45 ACP, with a Keychain Companion. I`ve put a steel backstrap, Wilson trigger, titanium firing pin, and Ed Brown slide stop in it. It has never malfunctioned on me.

Yep... I need me a gun. I have my eye on a S&W 686 in either 4" or 6". I'm told that for someone who's not really into guns, and just wants one hand gun, that this is about the best way to go. I guess it's towards the top of the heap for versatility, what with being able to pick either .357 or .38 without having to change anything around on the gun.

Expensive though. I guess I could get the comparable Ruger or something, but I figure if this is my "one gun" for decades to come, I might as well pony up the extra couple hundred and get the top quality.

I don't shoot very often, but have a Desert Eagle .45. Sweet piece that fires well and fits my hand like made for it. I'm thinking of going to get my carry permit. And will you please STOP posting pics of your EDC, John??!! I like it a lot!

Dig the Smith and XD, John. I've got an XD9 and still sometimes want that long-slide version. A lot of fun and a very good woods gun.

great pics John... i have been wanting a handgun for years...:o i am going to have to get in the next year or 2...

Nosh, Don't pass on the Ruger in favor of the S&W. I have worn out six S&W 357 Mags and have not phased the Ruger GP 100 yet. When it comes to Magnum calibers, Rugers are king. I have had a couple dozen K Frams The Ruger GP 100 is the way to go. The only 357 Mag S&W that I would buy is the old trooper model It was built on the L frame. If I were only going to shoot 38 Specials and just a few 357 Mag shells, then I would consider the 686.

I have been a Combat shooter for 30+ years, the smiths just take to much maintenance and re timing. I may get flamed for this but I been there.

In fairness to S&W, I am talking about 500-700 rounds a week.

I agree on the GP100, I had one for years, it just kept on going after I don`t know how many full power loads. My son in law just bought one for himself. Keep the pictures coming, They are great!

Oh as soon as I have a day off I'm going to have to get in on this and take some pics!

Heres my baby. My Colt all steel commander .45

I polished the hammer, barrel bushing, feed ramp, and frame rails (didnt need to, the gun is 100% out of box, just looks cool) Added Houges with palm swells, hex head grip screws, titanium firing pin from Ed Brown, Stainless recoil spring plug from Ed Brown, and wilson combat 8rd mags. woohoo this one is a sweet shooter!!!!

Here is a couple more of my Colt, and my bubbad out SKS I built out of a incomplete Norinco that I bought at a gun show. The gun was basicly the reciever and trigger group, and bbl. Swee shooter, fun rifle.

Isn`t that the "bullet proof" knife? If you get a chance, try Chip McCormack Power Mags in your .45. They are cheaper than Wilson`s and I`ve never had a problem with them.

Ok, there are no blades in these pics, but here they are anyway:

Yes it is John. The bulletproof bastid. hehe

My pops shoots nothing but Chip McCormicks from his 1911s, and swears by them. I got the wilsons, because the followers are skirted. With the 8rd McCormicks, I found on the last round, the follower would move forward and leave a tiny scratch on my feed ramp. Not a biggie, but I poished it like a mirror, and it would drive me crazy!!! That said, they function 100%, and my father carried thm with his Colt Commander duty gun for years.

4 inch is the shortest I have seen. The SP101 I think is their short barreled model. The are tough as hell but pretty heavy for concealed carry gun. For light revolvers that are carried a lot and shot a little, the S&W are great. S&W has better out of the box triggers. The Ruger triggers can be made really sweet but it takes a little work.

The 6 inch Ruger GP shoots like a rifle. Consistent 3 inch groups or better at 100 yards without any tuning up. With practice.

That is, if I can find one. My dealer said Rugers are a little easier to get then S&W. I want a stainless model 60 with the 2 1/8 bbl, but those are hard to find for me. I agree on the triggers udtjim. Also you are correct. The 4in gp100 I shot shoots like a dream. Ive never shot any of Rugers small revolvers.

What I am really hunting for right now is a blued Colt Python to match my commander.
