Dude,
The escalator is indeed a pre-Gunting. Bram Frank collaborated with REKAT earlier. The Spyderco Gunting, despite its similarity in shape, size and looks, is a far better piece in terms of features, ergonomics and functionality....

I agree with Sam, and I even heard the Gunting was far more realiable and well made.
I own the nr 287 Gunting and I can tell you it's really hard to beat !

Yup..the ole Escalator was my first design..and REKAT did make it..
19 months ago it's production and sales were ended officially.
The SPYDERCO GUNTING is a much better tool. But as it should be in each evolution of a design..
A model T in its time was great..but it doesn't compare with the Cobra...each has its place in time..
The GUNTING is a whole system of tools and training..as Massad Ayoob said the Guntings uniqueness of design, is matched by its uniqueness of purpose and its training system..
