Everybody has fallen in love with both knives and a review will come in a couple of monthes...

Ok seriously..I'm very happy Nemo that you and Fred really like the GUNTING & the Chinook...
give my best to Fred!
Enjoy the book!

Bram, Thank you !

I don't know if we are lucky to let Fred try his new Drone on us... I think we going to confiscate it to him... but I need an air gun and some tranquilizer before to approach him....

He even found a way to throw bothe Chinook and the Gunting in the face of an opponent before to draw his gun...

He's mad... armed and dangerous ;-)

cheers,

JM

Hmmmm an air gun and tranquilizer..OK that sounds about right..good thing its you Nemo, who has to get it away from Fred..I'd call it a loss and admit its his if it was me...ROFL!
talk to you later....

Hello,

I am using a Psion Series 5 MX to write that answer, so I don't know if it gonna work.

Franckly blades of CPM440V are excellent for a tool knife.
I have used the Gunting as a hammer while making wooden boxes yesterday. Also the very s the precise and sharp blade is cutting wood with ease.
The no spacer handle is also so easy to clean like the Sebenza.
The gunting is a creative knife which is not only a martial arts knife.
With the Gunting we can say with Ananda Coomaraswamy former dirctor of Boston and Chicago Art Museum:
"An artist is not a special human but all humans are special artists."

I really enjoy knives which give to the user a full range of application. A tool ready to serve
instead of an highly specialisated knife like for example the folding UUK ...
My two cents as the more I use the Gunting the more I enjoy every little brilliant details of its conception...

cheers,

JM

Nemo: thank you for your enthusiasm with using the GUNTING..I hope that Fred is enjoying it as much!!!
i'm also glad that you see it actually does regular cutting jobs!....
be well
Bram
George is getting a full set of all my videos for you!

hey Bram. We actually had a request for a "European" model without the 3" blade restriction. They wanted the blade to be as big as we can fit into the handle. Opinions?

sal

I'm looking forward to the reviews, Nemo.

Brian

He who finishes with the most toys wins.

As far as I am concern this 3 inches blades is part of the great design...

Forget all these European! Tehy don't know anything about knives ! ;D

cheers,

JM

I'm not sure what Europeans are asking..England, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, even Russia all have a three inch or less than 8.5 centimeter rule...France actually allows no kives..LOL...( laws from WWII German occupation)Scotland is under two inches..no locks...so they love the DRONE..
Sweden the same..
even Israel has the rule..under three inches is OK and with a lock it will be treated as a fixed blade BUT still three inches or less..
Three inches is a self limiting blade that precludes stabbing with intent to kill...
and a long handle short blade gives great leverage....

I am not adverse to a "military only" steroid version...but the handle must also be longer by a bit to fit the bigger blade in the correct proportion and to allow for combative hand and a half holding....

No one in public needs a bigger than three inch..as far as I know..or correctly said they might want it but who can carry it?

Nemo and Fred I'm sure are VERY happy with the three inch GUNTING blade...

Hey Bram,

let me just correct you on this..
the israeli restriction is on "4" length and not "3",and a BIG Gunting can't be such a bad idea.."bigger is better" at least so say my wife..

scorpio.

Sorry Bram, i'll have to correct you, too. Germany has the 8,5 cm restriction only for automatics, balisongs and gravity knives. So you should have no problem with a bigger version in germany.

Achim

The bigger blades are for the clumsy Europeans ! ;-D

There is zillions of to big blades for it's so rare to find a 3 inches blades as strong as a fixed blade.

A blade with an attitude !

Asking for a longer blade is simply a clear and obvious misunderstanding of the whole GBD (Gunting's Brilliant Design).

No offense Sal !

Now Bram could it be possible to have a Gunting with a 9 inches blade ?

I know some people in Mongolia who could be interested by a mega steroid two-hands folder...

Because enormous is better as say my 12 wives...

Arsat! Kelev tov !

cheers,

JM

Scorpio: Gadi explained to me that the law says that in Israel if I was in possession with a locking knife, ANY folder with a lock, which will be VIEWED as a fixed blade...I was best to be at three inches... we discussed this in open forum during the Commandments...
and no bigger is not always better..better leverage and usage is better than bigger...
scalpels have long handles and small blades, mat knives-utility knives have full handles and small blades...

As for Germany as in several countries, folding knives with locks go under different laws than plain folding knives..... the law says all folding knives WITH locks shall be less than 8.5 centimeters or less than 3 inches...
Been there, done that, talked to atty's there..
Scotland and others have banned folding knives with locks....used to be UNDER two inches..I used to supply the women officers in Scotland with Spyderco Crickets because they were under 2 inches in length..and train them in its usage...

We can in the USA use 4" or less here but the attitude and common laws these days state that three inches or less is a common pocket knife..Airlines prefer three or less..

When I teach knife in England, and work with the Colour Guard... I'm allowed to carry in the Palace BECAUSE I meet the less than three inch law...( they still think I'm a crazy Yank!)

When I taught SPETZNAS, Condor and others in Russia it was made clear to me about three inches as a standard as well. They were impressed that I could be a three inches and have such a "good" knife...

Still doesn't make me want a bigger blade...
and as for a bigger blade in the same size handle..no..no way..the difference of another 3/4 of an inch ( more or less) does nothing for me...

I'm a firm believer in three inches or less
and the idea of a common pocket knife...
In areas where the limit is four with the regulations tending towards three I say go with three..my intent is obvious that way.

again..If one is talking a "military only" restricted version with another inch or so of handle and a thickened blade, apple seed tip, 5"+ blade... for combative situations..
well Ok..maybe

Yes, I'm anal and I have certain firm ideas that I stick to,,PERIOD...
