Do we have anyone in South Louisiana? This looks like it is going to be a bad one.

Yeah to all those in that whole region.....get ready for flooding. The next tropical system, Hanna, is also headed that way.

Best of luck, my thoughts are with you all down there!

This weekend I'm like several others here. Sitting in Eastern Texas wondering if Gustav wil change course and head this way.
My prayers are going out to whomever is in it's path. Sound like it is getting big.

Yes, I am located on the West Bank of N.O. in Gretna, La. and we are going to stay.

I'm really not tring to be a jerk, please don't take it that way. My question, from someone that has never been through one but has seen N.O. after the last ones, is why?
If it comes this way I'll have to weigh my options and I have no experience to go on.

In the wake of our electric Co. cutting the top of my bayleaf tree off, I got to put my Cold Steel Panga Machete to work chopping it up. I think this is one of the finest Machetes I have used. Made real short work of the top of that tree.

My home town is Thibodaux, LA (about 50 miles south of New Orleans) and I have relatives there and in Metarie, one of the areas hit hard by Katrina. Please folks, vacate the area if Gustav heads in your direction. My prayers are with you.

Look. Katrina was pretty bad. I spent hurricane Camille here, neather with any ill affect on this side of the Mississippi river. I feel more threatend by the poeple leaving the city than if we would stay. My wife feels the same as I do. For exsample, This Morning I was fueling up some fuel containers and this woman that was behind me in line for fuel tells me and I Quote ( Any day now!! ) People go crazy in a situation like this. So I stay home where I feel a little safer. And no I did not entertaine her altercation, I said nothing and went about my way.

Look dude, don't take my advise so personally. It was not directed at you. There are always some folks who stay behind and that is their privilege. You have direct knowledge of how your own area responds to a hurricane, so go for it. But you know as well as I do that if the bulk of the population in New Orleans stays behind and experiences a major hit we are going to have an incredible catastrophe on our hands.

It would certainly be nice to here from any of you guys and girls down there once the storm passes.....:)

I'm in Slidell, north of New Orleans and had almost three feet of water in my house last time. We evacuated for Katrina at the last minute only after being begged my my son who was in college in north Lousiana. Glad we did. We will be pulling out of here tomorrow morning at 5am heading to Memphis, the only place we could get reservations and that was on Wednesday.

We are well equipped with arms and gear and have placed some important items up higher in case the storm surge comes this way again.

No one should be taking any chances with these storms. In fact, this is my wife's last year teaching and I am already retired so we are moving as soon as possible to Austin Texas to be close to my daughter. This evacuating is getting old as am I. No fun.

This is from here.

Time to leave New Orleans
It should go without saying that it's time to leave New Orleans. But, I'll say it anyway: It's Time to Leave New Orleans! The risk of staying in New Orleans is unacceptable. This is a huge and dangerous storm that has already killed a lot of people. The projected track and strength of Gustav is very close to that of Hurricane Betsy of 1965, the Category 3 hurricane that overwhelmed New Orleans' levees, and killed 76 people. Get out now.

I'm sure you know what you are doing,. I'm not trying to be insulting. I'm just sayin'.

Good luck. Keep us updated!

I am keeping in contact with my sisters in South Miss. via Myspace.com and they are staying put for the time being. I've been through a couple of these nasties myself and my prayers are outbound for you folks down there.

God be with everyone in that area. I could not deal with mother nature down there.

Here here!
Weather like this sort of puts our crappy weather this side of the Atlantic into perspective!
Take are.

Don't worry about that. It doesn't matter.

Just take care of yourself and your family.

My job ... my profession ... involves spacecraft and remote sensing. I'm looking down on this bad boy from above, with great precision.

It's bad. Real bad. I haven't seen worse in decades.

Don't stay.
