Is this guy related to Ricardo Vilar ? If so folks , these guys are/were mentored By Jerry Fisk. :D

I'm not sure if they're related, here's some info. I found when I was doing some research:

He began his blade smith studies at 18, finishing several courses in that area. He is a full time blade smith since 1999.
Gustavo became a member of the Brazilian Bladesmith Society and the American Bladesmith Society in 2002. Since then he participates in the main events and projects of national blade making.

And I know from experience how good Ricardo's work is!

How thick is the blade at the ricasso?

.191 Where the sanding scratch pattern changes direction, see the third photo showing the top of knife.

PS I hope I'm correct with who you are......Warren, a couple weeks ago my poor little brain was straining trying to remember who was interested in a particular knife I made. I lost all my contact info. and until I saw your avatar and user name I couldn't remember who that was. Anyway I had a knife available but now it's gone, very sorry once again.

Hi Dave,
No worries at all--I wasn't feeling slighted. Is it a really sharp distal taper on this one, or more gradual?
