Guy from Everett who borrowed my $50 Knife Shop Book

I'm looking for a young gentlemen who came to my shop in Marysville almost a year ago. I spent a few hours with him and gave him enough pointers to get started. I even flattened a piece of round stock so he could make his first stock removal knife. I was out of flat stock at the time, so I tried very hard to hook him up.

I don't remember your phone number, so can you contact me so I can get my book back? You were only supposed to borrow it for a few weeks.

Oh, and post a pic of that first knife, man!

Thanks

Just wanted to say "Thank you".

Randy,

Consider the DVD as a gift. Consider it your reward for helping someone get started.

Wayne,

Thank you very much! I have always reached for your books first when I have a question. They are a valuable resource in my shop. E-mail is on its way!

I'm glad you're participating in this forum. The experts in Shop Talk helped me get off and running. My training wheels are gone, but I never stop learning, that's for sure.

Thanks again.

Dewey, I'm actually in Tonasket for the summer. I'm over here at my family's place in the mountains near Chesaw. My smithy is set up in a new pole barn. I have more knife orders and blacksmithing jobs than I can keep up with. I'll be back in Arlington in late Sept. You can come on up to my new place after I get the shop set up. I should have some fresh deer steak that we can bbq too!

Wayne,
You are surely one of the good guys out there.

I have two copies of your "$50 knife shop" and two of "The Wonder of Knifemaking", which I loan out to youngsters who inquire about wanting to make a knife. I tell them to read the book, and then we will schedule a session at the smithy, and make their first knife. Got two lads coming in a couple weeks.
Every couple of years I get a situation like Brook has, and one doesn't come back. Luckily, there are lots of copies available. If it gets some new youngsters interested, it is worth the occasional loss.

Now, If I could only get those Sword Making DVD's back from the young fellow in Utah.

Wayne, the conditions under which I accepted your dvd were never met on my end. I've always felt it could be misinterprited as a scam and that was never my intention!

I'll feel much better once I send SOMETHING as compensation..............

And again, THANK YOU for sharing your experiences and knowledge. You have definately influenced and educated a lot of makers and knife nuts. Me included!!

Brook, thanks for the invite. But, I'm afraid you have me mixed up w/ someone else. I've never been to the west coast......................
[lots of makers over there I'd like to meet!!]

Venison bbq does sound good...................

Erin, Dewey, Brook, what the hay! Just get together. I have never found better people than bladesmith, kinifemaker, blacksmith, steelmaker folks. Meet in the middle...maybe Arkansas?
