Those of you that dont..read (link removed by Cougar Allen) for my rant about a scam that is being attempted on high ticket items. I would hate to see anybody fall for this load and lose a custom or a collection or something..

I am selling a custom bicycle frame online on a bicycle classifieds forum I have received two emails similar in context to this one I received today

Hello,

So i will want you to pls email me if it is still available.
And also tell me its present condition.
Also send me the pics if it is available and give ne your last price.
Also i will want you to know that my mode of payment is with a certified chasiers check.

This is a new scam in which the buyer pays with a bogus certified check..you are then out your Mdse and owe your bank the ammount of the bogus check in my case $1400. Most of these clowns are from overseas and are scams..

FYI

My question on these, as I don't know banking well enough, is whether this is something where you can hold the item, and call the bank itself to confirm or not. Don't know how cashier's checks are made out, or anything.

usually..the person offers to arrange shipping to a foreign country I suppose you could hold the check to wait for it to clear but usually it is not discovered to be fraudulent untill its too late for the seller..
