I don't sweat a lot but then again, as I've stated, I already have one confirmed case of rusting a knife from carrying inside the waistband of my shorts albeit partially due to my negligence in cleaning it. Man these Dragonflys are tiny!Depends on how much you sweat, and how your sweat affects steel. It does seem to vary from person to person.
If you sweat a lot the Spyderco Salt series is light and pretty much corrosion proof. I'd look at something in that series.
If corrosion is less of an issue, maybe a VG10 Dragonfly. Very light weight but still has a clip and is a useful size.

If I'm gonna wear my fanny pack at the gym it's gonna have my FN in it too and then I'll just feel weird I think. Definitely wouldn't be able to run with it.I have a civivi elementum wharncliffe as my work knife. I ride a motorbike for work. It rains. I get wet. Knife gets wet. Hasn't rusted yet.
Nitro v steel which is supposed to be rust resistant.
The wharncliffe makes it a really nice slicer and packet opener.
No idea about the fuzzy waist band.
Or. Do what I do at the gym and carry a fanny pack.
AWESOME setup hereIn shorts / sweats / workout gear and not home it means a quick errand, walking trail with my wife or the gym. That means Tommy's Gunpack for the G19 ,spare mag, keys, wallet, flashlights...and whatever Sebenza I want. I also a few months ago put a dedicated untratech in the bag between the mag and light.
Actually just loaded up for my 1st post surgery walk this morning.
Yuck it up youngsters...pops is well armed.

Yes. At least that's what I'm talking about. Dedication, for me, would be more like wearing my fanny pack with my gun in it while lifting (as I said above). But yeah, I was taught to "always be ready" so even having a small knife on my versus nothing makes a difference to me.Is everyone talking about packing a blade during the lifting sessions? That's dedication, I can only think of one cutting task that would arise in that setting.
I'd pick a gym that doesn't have "yard" in the name for sure.
Yes, but because of the finger choil and the configuation of the handle, you get a full four finger grip.I don't sweat a lot but then again, as I've stated, I already have one confirmed case of rusting a knife from carrying inside the waistband of my shorts albeit partially due to my negligence in cleaning it. I know I'm not answering your question OP, and I apologize, but I gotta go with this sentiment here. I've spent a lot of time in gyms. I'd consider it bad form for anyone to carry a knife on the floor and I know that any old-school gym would agree (can't speak to the modern big box gyms). On the floor, you won't have to open packages, process wood, make dinner. Worst case you might have to cut a loose thread on your gym shorts but if the loose thread gets really bad you can just go back to the locker room.Idk if I every carried on me in the gym?
It's not my intent to start a big political, moral, or philosophical debate, however, I will say that this addresses the same topic of people who carry firearms vs. people who would ask someone why they feel they need to carry a gun. Those who carry know why and I would say it's rather difficult to explain to those who don't. With that being said, I did just start this thread to see what knives people would usually choose to carry in situations where they would might be active aka exposing it to a warm moist environment.I know I'm not answering your question OP, and I apologize, but I gotta go with this sentiment here. If there is *any* hint in your mind that you have the thing for use as a weapon, can I suggest that you absolutely shouldn't be carrying it? I don't want to second guess your thinking but I could understand - you've got blood and testosterone pumping, you're looking at guys who are fitter than you are, some instinct is cropping up maybe? Don't dare feed that instinct, especially if you're at all thin-skinned, since comraderie in a gym includes a lot of s&$% talk.
If you actually feel like there is a threat, then (a) consider a new gym or if you're actually living in a 1980's movie and you can't back down then maybe (b) get better at stick fighting. You have a good reason to have a stick if you're spending 10 minutes practicing your form on the mat in front of a mirror. It would also dissuade people, assuming you're any good. (And if you aren't, don't expect that to change in a confrontation.)
Sorry, this turned into a treatise. Let me answer your actual question:
For a knife to use while exercising, like if you're trail running or something, that's different. Personally I bring my Buck Slim Select 112 and I do make sure to keep it clean and oiled (mineral oil) in case I sweat on it or from corrosion in general. It works great, but I've been eyeing an H2 Dragonfly for a while myself, though for different reasons.
