Elegant looking blades and the best part is that I know they will be rock star performers in any kitchen.

Very cool. That is some very interesting steel or combination of steel.

thanks everyone. Getting this steel is like finding Hens teeth. I am very exited to be able obtain this steel. the core Vtoku2 is very close to white 2 but has more Mn.

When I first read the title of this thread I thought it was a typo.
I have never seen anyone do a mokume clad blade before this.
I like it!
The copper bolster really sets off the colors in the blade.

Wow, those are striking! The colors are very sci-fi to me. Like something a wealthy Star Wars character might cook with or something. Lightsaber chef knife, perhaps.

Wow! I love these knives. Especially the ironwood one. Can you forge this steel or do you have to stock remove it?
Inspirational work.

Wow Bill I have been waiting to see some of these blades and it is well worth the wait those knives are all beautiful.

That is a beautiful knife. What are the specs on the steel? How well does it hold an edge? How hard can it be made? Where is it available, or, is it available to us plain knife makers?

Absolutely gorgeous. You can get a very similar effect by etching in ferric that has been previously used to etch copper (circuit boards), but it's not tri colour.

Edit: It's also a coating/plating and will wear off over time.

I meant can you forge it without upsetting the pattern on the outside of the V2 core.

this material has to be forged to get any kind of pattern other than straight lines.

thanks for that Tim, Unfortunately one of the ingreadiants in the cladding is unobtainium. the core material (V-Toku2) is very similar to Aogomi 2, It takes a super fine edge is relatively easy to sharpen and will harden to 65 in water reccomended working hardnes of 63 I believe but would have to look to be sure.

Bill, This is seriously bloody fantastic work mate. Um, how the ...., what the .... Its making my brain hurt.
Cheers Keith
