I am using a section of HD primary chain in the center of a damascus sandwich.
Can someone tell me what the steel might be, thats used in these primary chains?
Thanks, Fred
If I can remember right Fred I believe that Indian George uses Harley-Davidson chains in this Damascus. You may ask him. Hope this was of help. And Fred one of my son's live there in your state to. He lives near Dayton, Ohio is that close to you. We are going over there in about a week.
Terry,
I sent IG. an e-mail about the chain. Actually, Ig. was the source for this chain.
Dayton is on the other side of the state. I checked the map for your location in Indiana. You are a short drive from Bloomington. I would like to see your shop when I visit Bloomington.
Fred
Ive used primary chain too. You can be sure its high carbon steel because of the torque of the engine. There are a couple different steel makeups that allow for some good contrast but I dont know what they are.
Show us the final knife. Cool stuff. Ive been wantling the Indian primary chain that IG keeps in his top drawer.

I had not thought of the marketing aspect of HD primary chain knives. After reading your post the possibilities seem endless.I'm not sure what the Harley chains are made of, but i would think that they would make a knife that was slow, heavy, noisy and obsolete.........but any 50 yr old dentist having a midlife crisis would probably be more than willing to pay twice what the knife is actually worth and you could sell him an upgraded sheath for a couple of hundred bucks if you called it a "Screaming" something or other accessory.......AND you could sell him an entire new wardrobe while you are at it........lol![]()

Throwing in a case of 60 weight oil would seal the deal with any older generation Harley rider.

Another opportunity is to hook up with your local plastic surgeon and tanning salon so you can sell a "primary chain damascus knife/sheath/clothing/big fake boobs for your bleach blonde, lizard leather skinned 50 yr old wife" package.....lol. As you may have guessed, I have been to a few big "bike nights" riding my Triumph Thruxton 900 reproduction/homage 1950's buck-toothed Brit boy racer wannabe special. I don't get the nasty looks that the Jap bikes do......rather something resembling the grudging toleration that your retarded uncle would get at a family reunion....HEHEHEHEHE!!! You in a heap of trouble now BOY!!!!:grumpy: :grumpy:![]()

I still won't part with it. But, I have some HD primary chain from the late 30's that I will be willing to swap.

I gets worse. George. If I was going buy a new bike, it would be one of those German, Austrian or Eye-Talian jobbies....lol. But even you hardcore Harley/Indian boys have to have a little soft spot in your hearts for the Moto Guzzi Griso. The BMW cruisers are very nice and very well made, but to me, thats just not their thing. I would rather have their big GS1200 off road bike.Bubba!!! You are lucky that I have to be nise here.:jerkit: You Limmey, fish and chip Eatter.
Sounds Cooool!!!!!:thumbup:I may be willing to swap a nice set of mammoth tooth scales, seriously

LOL...possibly. I love the food, booze, landscape, girls, cars, etc from "over there" but I like the attitude/music/tax/business/political (most of the time) climate over here. You don't always have the unfettered right to be the particular type of a-hole you choose to be over there.....lol. I am seriously thinking of doing like Joe Keeslar and eventually getting a house in France, believe it or not. (in most areas that we are interested in, they are cooler than some of the other countries and the housing is cheaper than Luxembourg or Switzerland....lol) and splitting time between here and there. Maybe find me some fine lookin' WAY-too-young-for-me girlfriend from the Eastern European refugee community.....BOY???? Are you living on the wrong side of the pond.![]()
