H.E.S.T. is on sale!

Wow, those larger slabs really look good on it.
Good job RAT followed the suggestion that came from the forum (sorry, I forgot who it was).

RAT Pack #28

it is good to see these finally hit the shelves, I am waiting for the non autographed one though but I do have it on pre order so all is good. :D

Interesting page on the DPX website. I don't quite understand the self-defense portion but you can't have everything. :D

Are the handles hollow so you could put some basic stuff in them? Would be damn near impossible to get out if you only had the knife, but would be a cool feature.

They will hold quite a bit of gear. I took a screw loose using the edge of a piece of flint. Secret is to not tighten them too tight when you pack them.

That makes sense. Definitely a nice feature. Can't wait for the regular version to ship.

Another thing you can do in a pinch is just beat the hell out of the scales with a rock until you break them to get to your survival gear inside. If the SHTF I could get into the handles without a screwdriver....guaranteed!

LOL, and you get into it and your sh*t is beat to crap.

True, could also keep a small screwdriver bit in the sheath or drill a hole in the handle to make room for a bit to slide into and if you needed it, just poke it out with a stick or something. Something to play around with.

A couple of thoughts for scale screw tightening & removal....

How about a screw tightening/removal tool that slides into a slot on the handle? It could be "L" shaped to get some leverage to turn the screw.

Will a coin work Jeff? If not, might be a nice feature to have the screws so a penny or nickel would work. Most people have coins with them. Of course you would have to get ahold of the coin with a pretty good grip. But... if you tighten it with a coin, you should be able to remove the screw with a coin.

Could recess the holes a bit more to allow anything up to a quarter. Hell, just attach a bit to a lanyard, goes along with the knife being a survival blade anyway.
