I have long since forgotten my lust for that knife. They can keep my $5. It'll be the last dime they'll see from me.

Without previous knowledge of your situation its hard to have sympathy given everyone knows the issue with the 0562cf was one of materials shortage. Hence why the one you would have received would have been cts-204p. And bladehq is at the mercy of supply just as much as the maker. And even if bladehq made a mistake are we not all human? I mean you yourself even state you completely forgot about a knife you were previously wanting actually i think the word you used was lust.

It's really unfortunate that the retailers got the brunt of the anger in this (now well publicized) supply issue. KAI owes their big dealers like Knifecenter and BladeHQ a beer after having to take almost all of the flack for them.

I'm sure they'll be all right with out your business. I've been buying from them for years and plan to continue. Of course, I don't have unreasonable expectations as far as a dealer delivering something that they can not get in stock from the manufacturer.

Hell, I just bought a couple of items from Blade HQ a few hours ago. They have always gotten an "A" in my book.

BladeHQ had no fault in you not getting your pre-order, it was KAI's supply problem. If anything, blame KAI, but BladeHQ got you your knife as fast as they could, not their fault in the slightest.

Exactly. You pre ordered behind alot of people. I preorded mine in the first few days. But I cancelled last minute due to not wanting it any more after waiting. I would have been one of the first.

Moved to GB&U.

More details. Do you have a legitimate gripe or are you just venting?

Your title and your post are contradictory.

It's not BladHQ's fault, and it isn't really ZT's fault either. Sometimes materials end up being harder to get than expected. Changing steels in mid-stream isn't easy. It caused a delay. BFD.

But even Kai was at the mercy of Bohler. And to the credit of Kai they never through the company under the bus even though doing so would have cleared them of being the reason for the delay. I actually think that was a classy move. I know I wouldnt have had the same tact.

Since no one can say for sure who was at fault for the materials shortage, it wouldn't be right to lay the blame on anyone in particular.

Knife retailers & dealers least of all, as they have nothing to do with materials shortages.

Kudos to KAI in fact for taking the effort to switch out the steel to one with properties nearly identical to those of M390, in the effort to more quickly serve customers who had been waiting for their knives.

I've always been leery of stores that sell preorders, as there is always a chance to oversell the item. Specifically not knowing when or how often that specific item will be available. I stopped preordering a long time ago, if I have the cash I buy it. If there is a preorder I just move along.

ignorance at its best people. everyone should take note this is how not to react when you don't get your way.this isn't even close to being the retailer's fault.

Wrong. BH needs to feel the pain of the consumer and pass it on to their suppliers and on down the chain. That's how things get improved....

LOL!! It's your right to form an opinion..... even if it is wrong.

So to clarify this situation. The OP made a 5 dollar pre order on a knife..... essentially forgot about it because the company ran into issues with sourcing the steel. The company rectified the issue by switching to another steel from a totally different foundry(yes it has already been corrected). Now the retailer who he is bashing contacted him about his place in line and offered him the knife he wanted. Instead of taking the opportunity to purchase the knife he had been waiting for.... he bashes the retailer. How does that strike you as the correct stance to take? The knife company corrected the issue, the retailer made good on a pre order, and he bashes the retailer who in fact has the least to do with any of it? You would be amazed how much heat retailers take over stuff like this, and individuals like yourself and the OP cry "NO MERCY!!!" when you deal with them. He is just upset he didn't get a knife in the original run. Unreasonably high expectations for a retailer who has ZERO control over the situation is going to cause him to be seriously disappointed over and over and over again. Shit happens dude..... it's just a knife.

on the other hand I'm happy to have purchased one of the 204p version and can't wait to get mine in the mail. I've waited since they came out!!

EDIT: it seems bladehq also offered to refund the $5 deposits on these knives as well. Can't make everyone happy I guess

LOL, I'm sure the foundry's are just so worried about a few knife nuts being mad that they didn't get there precious knives:rolleyes:

Metal for knives is a very small percentage of a big foundry's sales.

This wasn't a BHQ, KAI, ZT issue...this was a foundry problem.

BHQ, KAI, ZT do not make steel and are at the mercy of the foundry's.
