ha ha another what knife to get thread ..

My reasons are as follows . I hear a common theme from different sources. That strider quality is hit and miss . At this price point that is unacceptable. I have no way to handle before purchasing. I have never heard chris reeve quality called into question. Some don't like them for varying reasons . But quality isn't a reason . I love my sebenza it stands out from the crowd. My main worry about the Umnumzaan is that it is somewhat similar to my 21 . And that it would be a little less than a sebenza to me . So I wouldn't carry it very often . Instead of a bad ass in its own right ,not a sebenza but has equal footing . That's one of the reasons I was considering going to a different knife all together . My sebenza is such a bad ass . I'm gonna critique the umnumzaan to the sebenza. That's a tough act to follow . I wouldn't do that with a Strider . I don't do that with my paramilitary 2 or military. They stand on their own . Not a sebenza but not expected to be . If that all makes sense? ... the deed is done ..I'll let y'all know my initial verdict ..

^ I think you'll be happy with your decision

Yes Sir. I think you will be happy with it. Congrats! Just try to remember that the Umnum needs a bit of time to break in. They only get better with use.

I have both the Umnumzaan and regular 21 Large. When I m edc'ing the 21, I am thinking of the Umnum. When I am edc'ing the Umnum, I am thinking of the 21.....So now I bring both along together.

Both CRK, and both different animals. Best of all is the way the folder sounds when it is deployed...a 'dhud', rather than a 'thak' like striders and the likes....

Congrats on the new acquisition.

I think you will find the Zaan to be quite a bit different than the Sebbie. Zaan's are my favorite CRK, I've owned more of those than any other model. The ergo's are a lot different, and for me are outstanding. I love how the blade tang is near flush with the Ti frame where you index finger lays against the finger guard in a normal grip.

It's here!!! I'm going to let y'all know my initial reaction . After playing with it for a few hours . After carrying it to work for a week . I'll post a more detailed synopsis and comparison to my 21 . She was born on July ,31,15 . First look she's a beauty in a tough industrial kinda way . As the wood inlay 21 looks more elegant and refined. A little hard to Crack the detent the first couple of times . She is smooths as butter . I'm hearing there is a break in period . All I can say is if it gets smoother that this , wow! . Thumb flicks with ease . Lock up at about 20-25% earlier Than most I've seen in pics . My 21 is at 75-80%. The lock works very smooth , smoother that my 21 was out of the box . Actually this knife is smoother that my 21 was out of the box . The 21 has broken in nicely though . I love the blade shape , very cool with out being over gaudy. It's is sharp but not super sharp out of the box . As was my 21 , no biggie though . Slightly heavier than the 21 , not significantly though. There's is one little potential hot spot for me . The forward finger groove , where the stop pin rests. I feel a little pinch , we'll see how it does in use . I have heard others say there's us a hot spot with the clip sitting close to the edge . I don't notice that one , feels perfectly comfortable to me . There is a little sharper edge when disengaging the lock . But it is so smooth I've not noticed that to be a problem . Lock up when open is rock solid . But because of the new pivot , you can jiggle the blade quite a bit , in the closed position. Just an observation not a problem or complaint . So there you go .. I love this sweet beauty . Can't wait to put her through her paces and bond with her . She's not a 21 but I believe she can stand toe to toe on her own merrit. Thanx for all your replies and special thanx to Hhmoore for taking the time to send me those e-mails and great info ... I'll post a more in depth review and comparison to the 21 at a later time .. got to put her to work first ... the boss

One more quick observation , the gimping isn't as good as the 21. Doesn't have as much bite ..

Ha ha .. I keep thinking of stuff to add . If opened slowly this baby is virtually silent , if thumb flicked a slight clink . I wonder about the longevity of these rubber orings . Especially the one used in opening the knife . That one is gonna take a lot of abuse from the act of your thumb wedging in there to open it .. also would like to ad I really like the stone wash on the blade ..
