Svashtar said:So, no such dreams anymore Howard? I think even your dreams back then showed that you were in control and powerful, unlike my dreams which are always of me being weak and ineffectual and powerless.
Evidently we dream of the things we fear?; your fear is that because of your internal strengths that you would be too powerful and might have to hurt someone; mine evidently are that because of my internal weaknesses I or my family would be hurt.
I rarely remember my dreams these days.
I think your analysis is tangentially correct, but it has more to do with what worries us than about power. From a certain perspective the things we can do to ourselves are worse than the things other people can do to us. Many of the dreams related in this thread reflect that concern.
I've heard it said that we become the things we hate, the things we fight. Certainly there is that potential. Sometimes we deal with that karma in dreams rather than taking on the karma of really chopping of the co-worker's head. In most of us there is an understanding of what we could become if we are not careful. Maybe sometimes the dreams remind us of our potentials for good or evil, and sometimes they help us let off some steam in a manner that minimises the bad karma.
I went through a bad time where I could not dream. It's no fun. On top of that, it's deadly. After that experience I regard a horrible nightmare as a blessing.
Dreams are fundamental to maintaining a functioning and integrated personality.
