Wow...all of this for a racoon?. And if oyu have lepto ora rabid or whatever in you areas, you believe you get contagious with a simple "nose touch"? You really believe that a racoon, always in contact with people, have to fear them? And why? Did he act with malevolous intenct? Does he crawls and scream for meat?...Let's get serious: If you let loose phone and kinfe for a racoon, just step back and call someone else. Don't even try to move, it's better. And what if, with a Grizzly? In chase a soft air weapon should done the job. Don't need to thrown stone to no one, until your are REALLY under attack...
 
Grabbed a sword, but ended up throwing a rock?? Leaving a wounded animal is poor form in my book.
