Roger I'd hate to see you heat it again
the oil may be too slow.
try water quenching it ( cold water) if not beveled keep it in there till cool, if beveled swipe it through twice , that should leave a differential line..
if it's any steel at all..
rock first then temper it starting at 325 and up from there

for those that like playing..
if oil is to slow and you don't have the touch with water you can mess with a salt brine to slow the quench in water.
