I used to hunt Chukar when I lived in Utah. Sneaky birds. I was always hunting them on very steep slopes. If I came up from below, they would outrun me uphill, not taking off. If I came across them from above, they would launch and fly like a dive bomber downslope, just above the ground/scrub.

They are very talkative birds, and reliably answer a good chukar call.
