Had to cut a guy out of his car tonight

Yikes! Nice work. It was very generous of you to allow him to keep his life after drawing a blade on you.

I'm not an American and this incident happened in Scotland of all places. The Scots don't take to kindly to foreigners snuffing out their folks :)

Plus he ran away after I whacked his wrist. He was tall and skinny so he ran fast. I'm kinda on the bulky side so I couldn't catch him. Meaning: I didn't let him live, I just couldn't run fast enough :)

No intention to derail this thread, just got me reminiscing of my younger days studying abroad. Not just a with a knife, as long as one steps up to help in the first place is what is important.

Good question. He had just suffered a front-end impact (crumpled the front end of his Caddy about halfway back) and was sitting hunched in his seat, leaning to the right (partly over the seatbelt buckle). He complained that his back was hurting badly and had been struggling to release the seatbelt catch.

Probably I could have reached across him and unsnapped it (assuming it wasn't stuck shut by the impact or something) but I didn't want to jostle him at all in case of a spinal injury. So anyway, the belt was viably tight across his lap, he was in pain (from that and from the accident) and he wanted relief. I did ask him to stay in the car though and not move around until the medics got there (which they did a few moments later).

Your elaboration makes it perfectly clear. Great job!

That's great!! Another reason why it's a good idea to EDC a knife:thumbup:, glad to hear he was okay.

A few weeks ago I was at a large fundraising walkathon in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco..

Nice job OP. Way to be prepared.

SF dude, you're lucky you weren't arrested, lol.

Good job man !

I keep a guthook clipped to my Jeep's visor...just in case.

When my son was five he got all twisted in the seatbelt and it would not loosen. The more we tried to get him out the tighter it got. I finally was forced to cut it .

That's the way knife supposedly to be used. More of these, maybe people wouldn't be so affraid of folders. Thank you, you're credit to the knife community
