A2 and ZDP 189 for sharpenability

ZDP 189, BG42, S30V for edgeholding

H1 for corrosion resistance

For toughness INFI.....

You really need to to do 2 polls, one for fixed and one for folders. I voted S30V, but thats my folder answer.

I agree with the fixed vs. folders thing. They pretty much have require different requirements, in most cases. Not always of course. I answered ZDP for folders but I wouldn't want a large fixed blade with it. Hell, just picking 5 steels is difficult.Joe

I voted for the S30V.It was a tough choice,because all the steels listed are very good.My personal favorite all around steel is 3V.

Well, yes and no. My basic kitchen ware does see much more use and abuse than my carry knives

Iam surprised at 1095 getting alot of votes but I guess ontario and RAT have been pushing that. Yes, I know it deserves it, it is a very good steel.

S30V got my vote most of my folders and several of my fixed blades are made out of the stuff and it holds up well and is easy enough to sharpen.
