I just picked up a carbon fiber BG42 Military shipped for under 165.00. I've done some research and think it was a pretty good deal, yes or no? Could have been a little better if the seller wasn't in the same state as I am. Sales tax added $11.50 or so. Regardless, I can't wait to get my hands on it and check it out. I've had a para for quite some time now and just love it. If it's big brother is even in the same ballpark I'll be a happy camper!!;)

Cheers,
Jon:)

If I remember right, I gave about that for mine, so I'd say you did pretty good. It is a great piece, especially if you are right-handed. Personally, I like mine better than my Para.

Good deal.
When I got my BG-42 Military it was the sharpest knife I've seen out of the box, and I had just bought a ZDP-189 Caly 3 at the same time.
Also, once you pick up a CF model you start to notice how flexible G-10 is in comparison, if only it weren't so darn expensive.

The BG42 Mil is the best knife I have ever owned. That is what I payed for mine. Bet you will like it. I just ordered a D2 steel mil to go with it.

I got it for around $200 off Knife Center and it is the only knife that really can't seem to find it's way out of my pocket! You definately won't be disappointed.

I put off acquiring a Military. Heard great stuff about BG-42 so it was going to be that one. Found a numbered one to add to my Spydie collection and with a few passes on the Sharpmaker, this thing is very sharp. I have lots of Spydies and this one takes the cake on sharpness. I didn't want to make the numbered one a user so looked for another and came across two that I couldn't pass up on.

You won't be disappointed. This is very fine piece of workmanship. Once you handle and cut with it, you'll be knife heaven. :D

I just saw an episode of Mythbusters tonight where the guys tried to "tornado-proof" a mobile home. One method was encasing it in a layer of carbon fiber. I figured if you can afford to cover an entire mobile home in a one inch layer of carbon fiber, you could probably just buy a damn house!!:D

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm really looking forward to this one. I just hope my Benchmade 710 doesn't end up getting lonely and jealous sitting in a drawer:eek:

Cheers,
jon

Carbon fibre is more expensive to work with than it is expensive. Some steel is like that as well.

Hold it in your palm and open it sharply with your thumb and enjoy that pump shotgun like CLACK

I got my BG42 CF for $175 plus shipping, so about $182, so I would say you did very well. Enjoy, I realy like mine.

The BG42 Military showed up today. That guy ships FAST!! The knife is everything I expected from Spyderco. Great fit and finish, smooth as silk operation, and SHARP!! I really love the carbon fiber on this knife, the texture is just about perfect. Good and grippy without being too abrasive. The one thing that surprised me with this knife is how BIG it is. I knew it was a big knife, this thing is HUGE!! Even so, it sits very comfortably in the right front pocket. You hardly know it's there, and even when sitting down you don't feel it poke into your hip like with some large folders. So far, I'm really impressed.

Cheers,
Jon
