I was hanging out with a friend last night, we were standing under a tree in the front yard shooting the ****, and this annoying branch about 1/4 inch in diameter was hanging down, and it hit me in the face. It could have put my eye out! I grabbed the branch, pulled out my 8, and swish! No more annoying branch. Thanks to my quick thinking, my cat like reflexes, and my Emerson, no one lost an eye, a tooth or worse.
You can see the marks left on the blade from the death defying cutting task, but thankfully, no permanent damage. Eat your heart out Cold Steel!

Now I know that Emersons aren't really "hard use" knives, because people keep telling me that the liner locks are flimsy, and the steel sucks. So I was surprised that the flimsy liner lock didn't explode, or that the obviously inferior 154CM steel didn't disintegrate, or that the chisel edge didn't deflect the blade off in an odd direction and maim the neighbors cat. Is it possible that the internet commandos could be wrong?
Well anyway, It's good to know that when the chips are down, and there is a potential eye threatening hazard, or other monumental EDC task which threatens the very fabric of society, that Emerson will pull you through.
Seriously though, I had just stropped the edge the night before, and after cutting the twig (and various other things) the razor sharp edge remains, so I guess the steel isn' too awful.
