Had To Let Them Go

Beautiful fish, Skunk. I don't know what it could be, but obviously there is something different about the water there, which might explain some odd things from the past...;)...like this:

thanks, they're steelhead salmon, river is the main salmon.

•Steelhead or Steelhead trout or Rainbow trout (Oncorhychus mykiss) are river spawners, usually found in the same rivers that produce chinook, especially the Columbia, Snake, Skeena, and other large rivers on the Pacific Coast.

Beautiful fish Skunk, I do the same thing when they are that size, its like killing a village elder or wiseman if that makes sense. Allthough Ive never fished for Steelhead, I have landed quite a few Browns that size. ;) Great day and with pix its not just a fish tale.

As a small stream angler in Colorado, the largest trout I ever caught was 4.5 pounds, considerably smaller than what Scott is showing.

Interesting factoid about where I live: The upper Snake River doesn't get steelhead or other types of salmon. Shoshone Falls (212 feet high, aka "The Niagra of the West") serves as a natural barrier to the migration of fish. Once they leave our area, they don't come back and the river above the falls is prime trout habitat. Even the section that runs through the center of town (Idaho Falls) has fantastic fish in it.

Awesome picks I have always wanted to have one of those guys on the end of my fly-line. The look very large and healthy from the pics.

Steelhead. Ocean run rainbow trout that migrate back to fresh water to spawn each year.
