Just do not leave it out in the sun in the summer time, it will warp. made something like that for a guys, motorcycle & he left parked out in the hot AZ sun & the windscreen acted like a magnifying glass & warped all kinds of up

I think if you wait till after you form to put the eyelets in you would be able to get the wood out or use the cutting board material like you said.
