Had to tweak my Guardian 3...

I really like this little workhorse. Virtually indestructible.
But...the sharp back end of the cutting edge, at the choil, was making me nervous. It never nicked me but I could always feel it and I was concerned a nick was inevitable.
So...I bought a small grinding ball(need to get a Dremel) and removed the sharp choil point. I also did a minor point removal to the back end of the choil in the G-10 handle. That's barely noticable but also made a big difference. The more rounded, both ends of the choil on the American Lawman pictured last...is what I was shooting for.
I will not be selling this G3 so a resale ding is no concern. Again, I love this knife. Just something I had to do.
Cheers!

*Mods...
Maybe this shoulda gone in Tinkering but Ive seen a few others with this exact concern and its a popular knife so I put it here.

I know exactly what you mean......very careful near the point in the Choil!!
Great idea!! I'm also loving mine!! I lent it to a friend recently. When I got it back my oldest son saw it.......I'll be ordering 2 more shortly!!

I did a similar choil modification on mine as well, got bit a few times but otherwise loved the knife so I dulled the end of the edge and all my problems went away.

Great idea! I've had the same fear and never did anything other than get nervous. But it is a simple mod and I'm gonna follow your lead. On all 3 of my G3s :)

Interesting....I sold mine because of the super uncomfortable scales, not the choil, but good work there. It's a great blade, but the handle shape & scales finish is just bad.

I know you've already sold yours (and I understand the reasoning too, the scales seem to be hit/miss for comfort) but he does not sell sculpted replacement scales that look more comfortable.

I did the same thing on a stone. I did not take off as much as the OP though.

Same, I just used the diamondstone and ran it perpendicular to the blade and at a 45 degree angle to the corner at the heel of the blade, and it took the bite right out of the choil without almost any real edge removal.

This isn't the first time I've done this on a blade though. Esee 3, Seal Pup, & an RMD. Just the slightest dulling of the edge immediately on the edge of the finger choil.

These have always been on my radar. One day I'm gonna have to nut up and pull the trigger soon.

Good looking out, but I can't be tempted with knife purchases till AFTER my vacation. (...don't buy a knife. don't buy a knife. don't buy a knife.)

...you guys make this so difficult.

It's really not at all difficult...'buy a knife' every time, no matter what - it is always the correct answer, even when it appears to be incorrect - it's deep man, I know, but it's also the truth. You need to buy the damn knife right now, if not sooner! What do you mean I'm attempting to satiate my own uncontrollable urges thru you??

A little follow up...
Had this G3 on my belt the last two days and used it several times with no worries whatsoever. I cannot feel the blade edge anymore with my index finger.
Real pleased with the slight change. Glad I did it.
