Hair shaving comparison tb/sar 8

I’m still unable to shave hair.
I watched the video a few times then tried to sharpen my Gerber folder and a cheap kitchen butcher knife. I used 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a mousepad, followed by a Bark River strop with black/green compound. Honestly seems I made the knives duller. I did the black marker on the edge trick. I checked for sharpness like the video said.
I don’t want to try my SAR 8 yet and will keep practicing on other knives first. So far only my first Tankbuster and a SOG Seal Pup I have are capable of shaving arm hair.
Any ideas? Does stropping only work on convex knives? What about a Saber grind? Are most of you heel-to-tip or tip-to-heel stroppers? Should I try a more aggressive sandpaper?

I would recommend getting an Edge Pro Apex. :)

If you use this technique make sure you do not press too hard. Basically the weight of he knife is all you need.

Send it in my friend. . . . We'll make it scream!. . .

They were all shaving sharp when they left here for the company store, but I have to warn you. . . Ol' Skunker has some pretty coarse back hair and might have tested your blade on it!!!!. . . . :eek: . . . .Cutting concrete is easier on INFI than old Skunk hair!!!!

OOOO, bad visual!:eek::barf:

Getting a convex edge to pop hair off with no resistance is not too difficult.

The sandpaper mouspad technique, and then move on to a loaded strop.

correct angle, and most importantly, not to much weight. With the Sar8 you will probably not even want the full weight of the blade on the strop, depending on your angle, and how firm your leather is.
