Having carried a HAK for years and pressure tested the design in trainer format, I have not come across this as an issue. All that protrudes from your hand is the blade. If your attacker goes for a disarm, or the like, you'll cut the offending appendage up something wicked. Remember, you have many limbs to strike with. The knife should be supplemental to your skills, not the focus.I had looked at these a few years ago, when I was looking for a self defense knife for carry....
Finger hole knives are lousy in fighting situations because the knife can break Your fingers pretty easily, if taken away from you in the scuffle or if it gets Stuck in them..... I prefer push/punch daggers or TDI style knife handles...
For many reason, that might deviate from the topic....
