Haley DesRosiers MS Dagger

Thanks for all the encouraging comments guys! It's nice to get feedback on something you put so much time into.

Mark, I guess it depends on your perception of girly. If you're thinking ribbons and bows perhaps not this knife, but if the term girly in your mind applies more to a Valkyrie with a penchant for Jimmy Choo shoes than I think this dagger could be right in there.

I like your perspective, especially the Valkyrie type of girly.
My original comment was intended as a compliment toward your knife making skill and your creativity.
Sounded good in my thoughts but doesn't always come out the way I was thinking.

"Mind bending" is about all I can say. Wonderfully imagined and executed.

I like that in the midst of it, your maker's mark is so small and unassuming...

Congrats on your MS!

Congratulations on your MS, Haley! Beautiful dagger:thumbup: Who stabilized the blackwood? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for a dagger:eek:

Perfect proportions and beautiful details. The whole piece is so well conceived and executed. You have the eyes of a well seasoned designer and the hands of a craftsman. Congratulations on your MS.

Thanks so much for the compliments on the photography, guys! I absolutely loved shooting all of Haley's work but this dagger was definitely the most fun. =)

That pic of the guard in the vice with forty or so little sheets of sandpaper strewn about is a perfect example of what would drive me bonkers being a knifemaker ,trying to keep that all crisp/clean and seamless looking. You did an amazing job.

Just a spectacular dagger - wish you'd had it at Seattle, 'cause I would've loved to see it in person - as good as Caleb's pictures are, there is nothing like having the knife in hand.

Especially a dagger!

Really like the "halibut hook" detail on the guard

I think "Valkyrie" would be a great name for the knife....not sure how well the Valkyries would have done their work wearing Jimmy Choos, though...:p

not sure how well they'd work out on a fishing boat either - haha

'course, you can't work ALL the time, so I say pick out a pair in honor of your MS...

Haley, your MS knives have been notably missed.... until now.

As I would have expected they are striking in the design and execution. I love the dual thickness ring as one example of 'whodathunk'?!

No one takes more dramatic and clearer images than Caleb, and it's worth the wait, in this case. He spends a LOT of time in setting up and editing, and it is so well received.

Looking forward to witnessing the rest.

Better late than never? (Me, that is.) Caleb has worked his magic again to bring out the best of the best work. Congratulations on the MS, Haley. You already know how much I admire your dagger. Knowing the story of the halibut hook guards makes the knife all the more a part of your heritage. The new owner is a very lucky person. - On another note, no one has mentioned the fabulous job you did on the integral ring and guard/spacer, another above and beyond detail that some may have missed. Classy.

Thanks for noticing the details! I'm sure the thousands of hours behind a camera makes things jump out at you as 'angles' more than the rest of us. I saw you for a second there in the hall at BLADE but in true MS applicant fashion I was running about a week behind on sleep. My mind was saying 'Hi Coop!' but I'm not sure it made it out my mouth. Then of course we didn't see you the rest of the show, the wizard behind the curtain.

Bob, thanks for the encouragement! There will be more daggers forthcoming :)
