Half serrated 3inch or less blades

I'm not a big fan of serrations to begin with and I don't own a combination edge knife. However...I do own both serrated and plain edge Spyderco Dragonfly knives and the cutting edges are just a little over 1.5 inches. You can do a lot with 1.5 inches of blade, serrated or plain. This leads me to believe there is some underestimation here of the capability of a 3 inch blade that's half serrated.
