Half Stockman?

I knew 300Bucks would be in this thread. He's the first thing I thought of when I read "half stockman".

First off great design and creation Ken.

Second, Frank knows I am promoting this Buck modification at every turn, so I won't miss another chance. Maybe, someone at factory will eventually see that it is a design that will sell and come up with a production order. Jigged bone please if possible.....

Had a 303 Stockman and a 301 Stockman "de-speyed" to make a two blade 'model', but with two springs. I could live with either same end or opposite in a production run. I dumped the spey because I seldom use that blade. I don't castrate any animals or carve wood. I really would like to see a clip and warcliff blade but will settle for a slightly longer sheepsfoot. If someone is going to try this on a Buck folder use the black sawcut scale it will make the modification easier. 300

I'd really like to see this one come on steam, pure user!

Thanks, Will

This is a Half Cattle knife, for speying two-legged (half)Bulls!

Actually it is a Budding and Grafting Double End Jack.

There are two-bladed Stockman knives, but there are no "half-stockmen" in my opinion.
Of course that is the opinion of a curmudgeon, who in other instances, has caved in to modern usage (and hated myself afterwards:()
Modern usage is so garbled, we can argue forever about what to call a knife. But if we go back to Levine, we can have more productive conversations!!:p

Well that double ended jack is a beauty and exactly what I was looking for (by whatever name ;) ). Guessing that ones hard to come by lol.

Thanks for all the info and education all. Its been an enlightening kind of day in my life, this is just another piece of that puzzle :D

Oh and sorry forgot to ask ya Charlie, is that a single spring?

Jeff, I'll have to find that knife to be sure, but I think it's double spring. If not, I am surprised it didn't break - look at that pic again - sheesh!!
As to rarity, I am told it is hard to find one, and that one is near mint! It's the only one I have ever seen. I bought it on Ebay a long time ago, and the seller was miffed that no one bid much on it. He said most may not have known what it was. I must admit, I wasn't sure, but took a chance!.

A score indeed

I noticed the spring('s?) in the pic. Did not want to assume. Thanks again and no need to dig it up. If I come across one I doubt the number of springs would keep me from picking it up.

Would you happen to have any pics handy Mr. Russell? I will start my search now regardless, thanks.

I made up a version with clip and coping blade, single spring a while back. Neat package IMHO.
This knife was based on a Remington 4103 however I exchanged the spey blade for a coping blade.
I would refer to this pattern as a "double ended jack" built on a stock knife frame.

I do not believe I have seen a stock knife, single spring with a coping/spey or sheepfoot/spey.
