This is the halibut knife, with an odd, unique handle. The knife itself I designed because I wanted a small knife that would take a full handed grip. The recess in the "tail" gives room for the little finger.

The steel is 1084, clay quenched with a hamon. The spine is fileworked with a random vine pattern.

The handle is odd. I wanted to use a motherboard from a computer, but I didnt want a flat handle. I stewed over it for a while, and this is what I came up with. I think it works well.

The sheath is designed for dual carry (horizontal and vertical), and is leather.

Dimensions -
Blade - 2 3/4" tip to handle
OAL - 6 1/2"

Price - $150 shipped to CONUS. I prefer paypal, but will accept check or money order.

The first "I'll take it!" gets it.

Edited to add: I mean no real offense by the epithet "geek" My bro in law is the family's resident computer geek, and we call him that all the time.

freak'n awesome, that is all I have to say. If I had the extra cash, I would definitely pick it up.

Because the handle is so unique and is made for a geek, can you show some close-up shots of the handle? Is the handle contoured? What is the manufacturer's name on those chips inside? Yes, I am a computer geek.

That is one unique knife. Is it computer controlled?

Woodgood, this is what I know about the computer. It was my daughter's babysitters and was sitting in the garage one day when I dropped off the kids. It had apparently fried, so she gave it to me. The chips say samsung on them, and it was a pc, not a mac, but I dont remember much more about it. I basically just took it home and immediately scrapped it for the chips.

It is contoured, here are some shots of it. They are just snapshots, mind you, so the quality is not great.

Thanks for the pics and the lowdown.

Maybe you should call it the HAL(ibut)-9000 model in reference to the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. I couldn't resist the pun, sorry, it's the geek in me I guess.

The handle's shape looks like you made it comfortable to hold.

As I said before that is one unique knife and one neat idea!

my computer geek friend mentioned calling it the halibut g33k beta version, or g33k 1.0

really cool idea I love it
this would look good with a kydex sheath that has motherboard plates over it
go full blown geek

So the chips are flat on the handle, and you poured some clear plastic compound over that? Looks great!

Gballowe, it is yours. Thanks all.

And yes, it has a clear plastic acrylic on over the computer board.

i got to handle this knife in ohio last week, and it feels great, and is a awsomely creative idea.

Thanks everyone.
Andrew, it was good to meet you also. You have very nice knives also. It was good to handle some of them.

Man, I can't get over that handle. Really cool stuff!
