Halloween Special for 10/31 -- Pix and Awesome Buys

I've been wanting that Giant Chitlangie for over 1 year and the guy who got it today got one heck of a deal because that is the lowest price I have ever seen it go for. Most stuff being sold on this Dotd is a real good price.

I need to jump into the WayBack machine and go to 2:26 this afternoon.....

12:26, your WayBack machine is broken. I honestly have been kind of lax in checking lately, been awhile on DOTD's and I wasn't expecting anything but I check in frequently anyhow just to see what ndoghouse and Steely and company have to say.

Today I was very very lucky and checked at just the right time.

That's the second one to come up in just a few months so you just might get lucky sooner than you think. We'll keep fingers crossed for you but alas I'm sure there are many others around here (not myself of course, what would I do with such a beautiful take my breath away kind of blade ya know ) with a bad case of the wants on a Giant Chitlangi Bowie too.

Can one of you guys do a super review on the Giant Chitlangie Bowie? I've been wanting one forever and I would have bought this one but I'm low on funds. I would appreciate any additional reviews, video reviews and I think all HI customers would love a big review on this. Man I been wanting this knife because its so ridicuculously huge and out of control.

I want to do one but got to have someone brave enough to hold the camera while I swing that monster. Dont know if my wife wants to do that yet? It does feel lighter than it looks partly because the handle is longer and weighty enough to counter the blade weight. It is not too thick and does have the faster feel that the other Chitlangi's have. Im partial to the Chitlangis myself because they have the beautiful fullers that give the blade depth but still light enough to work hard all day. I would not expect them to do the heavy chopping work of Ang Khola, ganga ram or bonecutter but somehow Tirtha captured the spirit of Chitlangi in a monster blade. I wouldn't want to swing a 22inch Ganga Ram all day (id dang sure try tho)... well actually I would:D OK mini review here. Illlll wait for Philll and maybe we can do a joint effffort review!

Auntie, what does it take to get a mask like that?

Good luck DB Im still jonesin for that dragon head and that giant chicken!

Looks like it was meant to be. And you got it for a great price!

Too bad your so far away, I'd be right proud to hold the camera and watch you swing till the chickens come home not that they'd likely ever come home long as your swinging that monster bowie. Course might take long enough to make me a resident Texan, even though I'm short I already got a hat. But I can't go no place without shoes neither. Is that a deal breaker?

No deal breaker Bawanna! you can have dual citizenship er stateship. No chicken yet but wont be long before the wild boars start grazing the area. I have been watching them over the years and they seem to be encroaching closer and closer to home. When they do...BLAM!!! CHOP CHOP!!!>>>BLAM! Bacon on the table!

Aw crap Phillll, now I feel awful for ya. Man shouldn't feel awful on a Friday.......

Stealth Shark, that's a good one. Well your back on the list of those wanting a GCB, I think the list is long. Be stealthy. I personally ain't going for one till I know you got one in your hands. One less shark to deal with here.

Oh Man! Stomp stomp!..... Bummmmmmer! Sorry Phillllllll! I was looking forward to mine having a sister! They must be hard to get? I lucked out I guess? I guess we are not that far apart after all Bawanna!
I missed out on the GCB. Auntie said somebody in the UK snagged it.

For a GCB, I would happily stealth shark yall :). Time to start circling till I grab it with my teeth...

No need for stealth Verpra. Or do you think we all would start a pilgrimage to your house just to have a look at it?
On second thought yes, stealth would be the way to go.

It's all good. I've got enough khukuris laying around to keep me happy until the next one pops up :P

Congrats to our UK friend who managed to shark that one!

I wonder if that was Kronckew who got it?
He could start the pilgrimage!

Any idea why this Giant Chitlani bowie looks all curved? I've seen previous ones looked like straight blade

Mine looks the same with one inch of drop. It is Tirtha Kami as well. Maybe some other earlier ones have less drop but I dont know?

This one looks a little more curved than past GCBs, but they all had a graceful downward curve. I don't think any of them were actually straight blades. Photos can be a bit misleading, depending on the camera angle.

I believe that most of the past GCBs were made by Vim Kami, and the past two posted on this forum were by Tirtha. The difference in curvature might just reflect slightly different interpretations. Even for the more standard HI models there are always small variations from one kami to another, and even by the same kami on different occasions.

Another feature that often shows slight variation is the handle. How curved it is, how big the bell of the pommel, the difference in diameter between the fat part of the handle (in front of the ring) and the thin part (behind the ring), etc.

I believe the most recent two GCBs were villagers, that is, satin finish. A lot of the older ones were highly polished. However, it's not that hard to polish a villager blade, and it's downright easy to convert a polished blade to satin if that's what someone prefers.

What good stuff!
I love that mini-Bowie and will eventually have one.
That UBE is sweet. I have a 12" and I really enjoy using it. It still has quite a shine and if you know me you'll know I only like a shine on my Sgian Du. So although I use my UBE I keep her sparkly in honor of Uncle Bill. :)

Waiting on pins and needles (hope I don't get a flat tire) for the mail man with the wonderful triangle box from auntie. I predict it's gonna be a good day.
Whoop, whoop!
