Well, it looks like we survived another cutting competition. A special thanks to all the entrants. By their participation we keep this thing going. Even in fun and lots of joking we get to see hand forged blades do some really outstanding feats. This years honors go to Ray Kirk; first place. Mike Smith; second place. Charlie Smale; third place. A very diverse group; an Okie, an Arkie, and a Yankee. We did things a little different this year. The blade style was a hunter with a 5 inch or so blade. First order of business was to chop a 3/4 inch hardwood dowel in two. And buddy it was HARD wood.Secondly, to scive a business card, not going through it. Third was to cut 5 pieces off of a nylon reinforced conveyer belt. Next, was to slit a piece of paper laying flat on another sheet. Without nicking the bottom sheet. Last was slicing a single sheet of tissue paper, free hanging. Each test was simple, but in context with the other parts, much more difficult. A lot of fun, and maybe we learned something too. Again, congratulations to the winners. Thanks to the guys participating.
