Hammer making class.......

Everyone in the class was incredible, this is not an easy task, especially for those just starting! forging not only the slit/drift tool but forging 6 excellent hammer heads is no small feat! I paired everyone up and they each took turns striking for the other for both the tool and the hammer head. None of them had ever done anything like it but on Monday they were already striking for each other independently as needed. Creativity was thick in the air the whole weekend!

Most EXCELLENT Sam! Well done indeed!

I don't believe I saw the new Papa in the making in any of those pix though. What gives?!

I love to see the young guys getting in and getting dirty. I'd bet my left nut that every single one of them will have those hammers until the day they die. Awesome Sam & Mace! :)

Be careful betting your left nut. I did that once in college and lost the bet

It tooke me a whole year to win it back!

A couple of hammers....Sams hammer on the right...one I did on the left.

Sam's is bigger than yours... :)

...wait a minute. Not a single photo of my big ol' ugly bear? You suddenly get camera shy?

For those that have never experienced it, Sammy is a natural teacher. Wise beyond his years, passionate about his craft, and indefatigable! I suppose its possible for an average human being to be capable of moving at the pace Sam does without methamphetamine, but I suspect it's highly unlikely...

Thanks for sharing, bro!

He was behind the camera all weekend and I forgot mine! That little hammer Mace had was real nice, great for fine work but used to great effect as a pointer to indicate how and where to hit.

Matt, I had to look up indefatigable, thanks :D but you let out my secret! LOL

Thanks Carl for the info on how to get the vids to work!
Matt, This thread was about Sammy and my handsome face would have taken away from that....I know how easily distracted you can get. MATT....I'm talking to you! Pay attention.

Mete, The handle was from my firewood pile....spalted beach. Maybe not the best choice for a hammer handle, but heck....it looks cool! I think I will use it more as a teaching aid than a forging hammer anyway.

Thank you all for taking a look...
....and Sam, thank you again.
Mace

I promise those kids will remeber that for the rest of their LIVES! Amazing being able to share with youth. You get thumbsup from me for doing that!
