This hammer poll hawk was forged from a bar of 1045. The end of the blade was split and piece of L-6 was welded in for the cutting bit. edge hardened and tempered. The hammer poll is also heat treated(like a regular hammer) Etched to a nice aged patina and filworked on the spine. The cutting edge is 2 5/8" wide and the head is 7 5/8" long overall including the poll.
The haft is a real nice piece of Curly Maple. Stained with aqua fortis and finished with boiled linseed oil. The sheath is hand sewn 9oz leather.
