This is hand forged hawk. Forged from a bar of 1060'ish steel. Edge hardened and tempered. Filework on the spine. The cutting edge is appx 2 5/8" wide and the head is 7 1/2" long including the poll..Some forge marks left with an aged patina.Stamped with our touch mark.Sinew wrap above and below. The haft is 19" long curly maple. Stained with Aqua Fortis and finished with boiled linseed oil. The sheath is 9oz leather. Hand sewn. I received her yesterday. Beautiful hawk. The curly maple is gorgeous and goes well with the rugged good looks of the blade and file work. She’s very sharp too. You can just make out the tempering line. She will have to stay muzzled even when perched on the wall, though she’ll make a few trips to the woods either camping or working with the local wildlife conservation group. Thanks for the hawk!
