Finally got around to HT'ing that batch of hammers I did awhile ago before I left my old shop. I did a batch of 10 hammers all together, was very fun! My new gas forge (NC Tool knifemaker's forge) got the hammers up to heat no problem and very quickly, it worked out that I could rough grind/dress one head while one heated up, then quench, and switch. All the hammers were forged from 1 1/2 inch 1045 round, I should be able to finish them up maybe this weekend. Those who have a deal worked out with me for one of these hammers, please let me know cause I am not sure if I remember everyone who was supposed to get one. So far I have

Burton
Sean Shepherd
Don H
Rick T

Sorry if anyone is missing, please PM me if you are. I'll have an email or PM out to you guys on the list though by the end of the weekend. here is some pictures!

Here is the little pile of them before HT

Kieth, yup shape and set my own handles, heck even make my own little steel and wood wedges. Jack, not sure I have to hear back from some people first, i'll let you know.

Thanks Dan! I will let you know. I cannot wait to handle up the two long smallish offset sledgehammers and give them a try. Just pulled them out of the oven an hour ago, they are a nice golden straw color, I am now VERY anxious to get them handled.

Thanks Nick! Wish I could work some bigger steel, i'd like to specialise with some sledgehammers that cannot be found anymore.

Nice work, Sammy!

...where'd you get the 1045? i'd like to get my mitts on some for a couple of projects...
