Hammock suggestions/opinions ?

Everyone's different. If you've tried several times and it doesn't work then it's probably not going to. You might have a circulation issue in your feet that others don't. I don't think you're "doing it wrong". ;)

God, I hope we're still talking about hammocks.

ENO Double Nest. you can pick them up for like 60 bucks. although you need to either get the slapstraps which are like 25 or have your own webbing set up. the slapstraps are pretty handy though because they allow you to set up quickly on whatever size tree/pole/whatever you can hang from.

this is ridicules! i was just about to make a tread for a hammock recommendation today. thanks for starting one for me broski

yeah, a lot of people like it, but personally I don't. I will go with a single layer hammock next time.

the double layer can be used for mats or other insulation (dry leaves if nothing else is available), but I find that I can adjust and feel my mat more easily when it is in the hammock instead of between the layers.

on the other hand, the double layer really got me out of a sticky situation when I was in Sweden.
I was hanging over some sharp rocks, but just a little too low. A littlebit of stretch in the webbing made me hang a couple of inches lower than intended over the night and the rocks scratched through the fabric of my hammock, which totally ripped. luckily, it was the bottom layer and my sleeping mat was in between the layers, so the top layer and my sleeping mat were intact.
Had I been in a single layer hammock... well, it would have been a nasty wakeup for me :)

One more benefit of the double layer hammocks are mosquito protection. I have has friends bitten through the bottom of their hammock while I was fine in my double layer Mosquito Hammock Jungle Hammock.

There are 2 key hammocks which will stand you in good stead through all 4 seasons.

As people have mentioned, the Clark range if very sturdy and includes about every accessory you might need. It's big competitor meanwhile is Hennessy.

Here's some info on the Clark jungle hammock range. And I found this good thread comparing two models from the different brands (from what I've read online, people are split really 50/50 on which they prefer - down to personal taste).

Hope that helps.
