So I have been playing with producing a hamon in W2. This blade is 1 of 4 I just hardened to see what I might be able to produce. In the following pics you see a real crisp line which followed the bottom edge of the clay. I had fine lines of clay running down the blade that all ended at the clean line. The one picture has a decent shot of a really faint secondary line that exactly mimics were the clay was. You can only see it in the right light with the blade turned to the right angle. In the other 2 pictures it is near impossible to see the secondary line.

My real question is it possible to develop this faint line?

I am going to say... probably not a whole lot more than you have it developed already. You could try to sand it up to 2000 grit, but I think you might be wasting your time. I would stick with the very nice and bold hamon that you already have.

That is the effect all right.

yea I sanded to 1500 to start I could see the affect before slightly but at 1500 when you etch you can really see the darker shadow till you polish the oxides off. Good to know I think I will try some wider spacing of my clay lines and a bit thinner lines with breaks to see what affects I get.

Yea back to more sanding :)
