Hamon too close to edge?

The edge looks fully hardened on that one. It’s not ideal, and esthetically would look better a bit higher up, but that should be a serviceable blade. 1/3 hardened is what many, if not most consider ideal.

Personally, I would re-do the HT and try to get the hardening line much higher. As Willie said, about 1/3 the way up the blade and fairly even as it goes down the blade.
 
I would redo it as well. Rather than calling it a letter opener given the amount of work you put into it already it's easy enough to just do over. Shoot for 36.25% of the blade to be hardened before the hamon begins. :D
