Hi guys.
I work for a forging company and a perk of my job is that i have access to a spectro annalysis machine to test the chemical compositions of my steel.
I tested a piece of steel (2" od x 8 feet long ) yesterday and it has a composition of:
1,06 % carbon
0.362 % manganese
0.203 % chrome
0.142 % nickel
My question is , does that 0.203 % chrome and 0.142 % nickel mess up my chances of achieving a good hamon?

I would like to think ive made the score of the century ...

Looks fairly close to w1 and w2 in composition. I'll bet you could get a hamon out of it. Give it a shot and show us some pics.

I was thinking W1 as well. No vanadium, so W2 seems out to me.
