Hand axe with a beard .

Sooooo, If I was to want you to make a simple camp axe version of this beautiful axe what would something like this run me Chris?
Because it is just out right gorgeous.

Hi Silverthorn,
Glad you like ,I think it would be a better price if you got
one of you great makers over there in the states to make one
for you .
Ive got quit a few hawks im working on at the moment
and cant realy give you a answer and then the price to ship to the usa as well .

Ive got all these ruffed out and it will take me a while to get though these and out of the way
sorry for that .

I do not know anything about metal, and dont proclaim to be an expert. So I am looking for education here. I like the piece, but me being an axe head I wonder that if I get after something, will the small area of fluctuation (the neck) be able to handle the beating? I take it that it should as the bearded axe is not something new. So I am just wondering, thats all. I like the piece, it has some great craftsmanship that I know I could never do. thanks.

Hi Butch
A good all round steel but i dont claim to be any kind of expert at all and never will , every one
has different views on what is best but i like the stuff a thousand may not
and i thank you very much glad you like my work .
Chris.
.

Hi Operator1975,
I think it comes back to the use it was designed for like every tool made or it would not have been that shape .
like you wouldnt try cutting down A 3 foot round tree with a tomahawk atho some may lol.

So i think it comes back to your inteded purpose .not a big historian on bearded axes but i guess they were
ok in there time or maybe they keept changing designs i realy dont know sorry cant realy help much more than that
history could probably tell us all a lot more about them .i just make things because i like to no other reason good or bad .
Thank you
Chris.

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it. I think the workmanship, effort, and time that has been put into that piece is something I can only hope to have a grasp of one day. So I salute you on a job well done. Thanks for the feedback on my feedback, if that makes sense. LOL.

Keep em coming.

Hi Operator1975 ,
I wish i could have been a bit more help to you .
Thank you very much im real glad you like my work tho.
Chris

Thanks for posting the pics, Bearded axe looks cool. Looks like you are playing with different styles. Are they commision/ designed pieces? or do you "let the steel" dictate the shape while forging as a friend of mine is fond of saying.
Thanks
