My father in law has been visiting with us from New Mexico since Christmas. He is a Native American artist, silver and goldsmith, knife maker, and sculptor. He Decided to give me a few lessons on carving. We have been working on these firesteels since a little after Christmas.
The first one is an Stag handled fire steel with a carved eagle. The pupils on the eyes are made of buffalo horn. and the rest of the eye is made of yellow burlap micarta. The neck of the firesteel has a piece of glow epoxy resin that has been further enhanced with some pure grade zero glow powder. The eyes also glow.
Eagle:

Second piece is a stag handled fire steel with a carved Great White Shark. The eyes of the shark are also buffalo horn and the same glow laminate was used on the neck.
Shark:

Third piece is a stag handled fire steel with a carved elk head. The eyes are also buffalo horn. This one has 3 layered pieces on the neck. A red/black micarta sandwiched in between the glow laminate.
Elk:

The Eagle and Shark have 6" firesteels and the Elk has a 5" firesteel.
Prices are as follows:
Eagle: $200
Shark: $175
Elk: $175
These are hand carved and signed one of a kind pieces. My father in law has pieces of artwork in The Smithsonian and he is very talented.
