HI
I am looking for a tutorial or some pictures on hand filing the bevels on a blade.
I have 3 young guys that are sons of my Wife's cousin. (I have no idea what that makes them to me) and don't tell me.
These youngster want to make a knife and it's all going to be through email.
I gave them a 6 inch piece of 1/8 by 1 1/8 1084 that is annealed when they were here on vac.
To start with i want them to draw a pattern, cut it out with a hacksaw, File in some bevels, and send it back to me for heat treat. I will also put on a guard and fit a handle block . Then it goes back to them to shape the handle and do the finish.
I am putting together some instructions and steps on how to and am looking for pics any help would be deeply appreciated.
Take Care and Thank You
TJ

Check out the Loveless book where Barney handfiled a knife in the last section. It was a very good job and very good instructions.

They are your wife's second cousins.
That makes them your second cousins-in-law.
And their children will be your second cousins-in-law-once removed.
But, if one of them married a woman who already had kids, those kids would be
step-second cousins-in-law-once removed.

How about you just call them what I call my wife's cousins. "My wife's relatives", or "friends". that seems to work for me anyway.
