This is a hand forged hammer poll hawk. Made somewhat in the "riflemans" style. The cutting edge is 2 1/8" wide, the head is 7 1/4" long overall. The haft is about 19" long.
It was made from a single piece of med/high carbon steel(around 1060), slit, drifted and forged by hand. It was edge hardened and tempered. The hammer poll was heat treated just like a normal hammer. Hardened and tempered back to purple around the edges. It has some light filework and a snub scroll on the bottom of the blade. Deep etched to an aged patina and stamped with our touch mark. The haft is straight grain Ash. Lightly flamed, stained and sealed with boiled linseed oil. It has six brass studs and sinew above and below the head. A tough tool, pure and simple..We are asking $130 plus $10 shipping(priority with conformation). We accept paypal and money orders. Email address is phllpwest@bellsouth.net
Thanks
