I absolutely love the look of a rough hand forged (non-damascus) blade with a keen edge and a beautiful simplistic handle. Prob is I only know how to do stock removal (sort of, im still very new) Is there a way to get that look with some tricks like beating the Sh*t out of the annealed steel and forcing a patina on the heat treated blade?

or is there any makers on here that could forge bar stock and send it to me?

basically I want to make a knife with a forged look but I am not a blacksmith.

Thanks guys

Hard Edge Knives is a maker on here who puts out a lot knives, a fair amount of them have that rustic look you're going for.

Look around the Makers Forum, lots of talent and I'm sure you could find someone to help you out.

You could experiment with the bleach + gun blue method to antique your bar stock before grinding

Edit: Hint - do one side at a time so both sides match :P

I messed around a bit of a faux-forged look on one of my knives a month or two back out of boredom/curiosity.

Just started hammering away at a cold, annealed piece of steel to put some divots in it with a rough ball pein. Polished up the raised sections before heat treat, but left the divots nice and rough. After heat treat, I sanded the areas with light pressure and a semi hard surface to shine up the raised sections while leaving scale in the pits. Turned out alright. Not sure if this is the look you're going for, but here's a picture below. If you're going for an even rougher look, that's probably possible as well... just clean it up a little less after heat treat. I'm sure others have better methods as well.

I really like the look of that knife weebus. It's not as rough as some I have seen and I like it a bit cleaner like that.
