• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Hand forging a hawk

Hi Ray,
Great thread it will be nice to watch the progress, from start top finish. Your work is always top of the line, cant wait to see the end product....
All the Best !!

It was a shame the edge cracked after heat treat, but I still have dibs on it!
I really like the overall design of the hawk, never saw a spike like that before.

Liam, I got first dibs. I ground 3/4" off of the bit and reforged it. Other than the fact it doesn't look quite like it did it doesn't look half bad. I've got it in the oven right now. Didn't hear any cracking sounds this time.

I finally finished up this hawk. Its got a 6 1/2" head, 3 1/2" cutting edge, and just under 15".
