I used to have a hand lotion that actually worked for dry skin and cuts and burns. It's active ingredients were vitamin E and aloe vera.
Can anyone suggest such a lotion that is fragrance FREE ! It should have something more than just a moisturizer, such as vitamin E and aloe vera [Both proven effective for burns and healing cuts].

you might look at badgerbalm...i have heard good things about them, but have never used their products.

Haven't tried it yet, but I picked up a few samples of Pro-Tech-Skin at SHOT that looks pretty promising. The neutrogena norwegian formula body moisturizer works VERY well on hands or other dry areas, and is scent-free if I remember correctly.

I have always used Eucerine dry skin creme. Any drug store has it and it has no scent at all. It works very good. The winters here can be very dry so a good hand creme is very much needed. Unless you like to have split knuckles and finger tips.

If you have a really bad problem with dryness (like I do), you could try any sort of foot callus cream. I use Avon brand callus cream (stolen from my GF) and it works great for my hands. Even after several hand washings they tend to not dry out.

Another thing to remember when using hand lotion is to wash your hands thoroughly with warm water before using. The lotion can only add so much moisture to your skin. It works better as a barrirer to retain moisture.
If they're dry to begin with, lotion isn't going to help much.

That good looking lady doctor on Fox news say that you should not use anything except pure sunflower oil. She says that the commercial skin. creams contain to many thing that are not good for your body. She says pure sunflower oil is cheap and not oily feeling and no bad smell. I am going to try it.

She say especially women should not use other skin creams as it increases the chances of breast cancer quite a bit.

Olive Oil rub on before you towel off. works for me. Also use a deodorant crystal, no odor no scent works great. Cheap

"Corn Huskers" lotion when I'm out working helps me and you don't feel like your hands are oiled up after you rub it in. No problems with the steering wheel!
At home its "Eucerin Original Moisturizing Creme". It has no smell at all, no fragrance added. In winter my hands crack and bleed bad from working outside. At night before bed I liberally apply Eucerin then wear a pair of those brown cotton gardening gloves to bed. Keeps my hands soaked in lotion while i sleep.

Good thread! I'm currently in school for Massage Therapy and my left middle finger has been cracking since Sept. long weekend. It is more or less good right now (after not using any moisturizer for a month), but my other fingers are getting dry. We used to use Bag Balm exclusively on the farm but for some reason I cannot find it in Alberta (Lee valley carries it but won't sell it here for some reason.

Might have to try out BadgerBalm as I think that is Lee Valleys replacement. Do not care for Burts Bees hand lotion in the tin- too oily and does not soak in enough for me.

I like the GoldBond Ultimate Healing Lotion. For bad dry skin and other things like sunburns, I use Aquaphor, which I can't stand by the way. It's greasy and stinks, so I only use it at bed time, if I need to.

I like badger balm and burts bees, because they don't seem to kill callouses like other lotions. they seem to allow your hands to toughen up, highly useful when I worked as a diswasher, and any time I have to spend all day in rubber gloves

I use Bag Balm at work since my wife stole my good stuff that I had found by accident. It is:

MONTANA PITCH-BLEND Leather Dressing. www.montanapitchblend.com

Nothing more than a blend of Pine Pitch, Mink Oil, and Beeswax.

My hands were already cracked and dried out when 1 evening I used the stuff to go over a pair of workboots. When I was done, I just worked what was on my hands into my hands and the next morning ... WOW!

My wife has problems with the skin cracking around her mouth and nose. The hard part was suggesting it to her without suggesting her face was like an old boot.:foot::foot: It's not, but I had to do some quick talking about leather/skin while she was trying to find a claw hammer.:D:D

She tried it once and now it stays by her side of the bed.

It is also a excellent leather dressing/waterproofer and all natural to boot.:D
