What is the best way to hand rub a hollow grind? I am currently using my finger tips as a sanding stick to do the hollow, works ok, but fingers get sore. Is there an easier way. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I recently asked this question myself!

I recently tried it using a piece of micarta.i traced the wheel onto a small piece then cut close with bandsaw and ground flush.wrap paper around micarta and sand away!!some guys suggested using soft woods as jig.but micarta's working for me.its also much easier if you take blade to a high finish first.

If your grinds are the radius of your contactwheel, just make a sanding block with an 8" or 10" radius curve. If the knives are all a bit different, you can make a sanding block with bondo to match the curve.

I use a hockey puck... It works great....I handhold it or clamp the puck in a vise and move the blade over it....I grind with an 8 in. wheel..........carl

Thanks for the advice, I have some Corian material, will give it a try. Thanks again. J.D.
